Louvain-la-NeuveWelcome to Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve! Youngest city of Belgium, Louvain-la-Neuve was born in 1971 when the French speaking part of the Catholic University of Louvain settled in the field near the rural community of Ottignies to create a brand new university. “Planned city” imagined by architects as an automobile under pedestrian city; Louvain-la-Neuve will charm you with its unique architecture and its atmosphere that is unlike any other. Enjoy the charm of the city in July, emptied of most of the students but still full of life and attractions like the beach settled on the “Grand Place” in July and August. Louvain-la-Neuve is also renowned for its “Scientific park” housing numerous high-technologies companies. Important: Please be careful to always refer to “Louvain-la-Neuve” and not “Louvain” (Leuven) when travelling as those are two different cities not far from each other.
