WorkshopsOn Sunday, June 22, 3 workshops will be organised. Each workshop will take place from 14:00-17:00 (including coffee break). Fees per workshop: Location: Amphitheatre Pharma in CHU, Sart-Tilman. Please register for the desired workshop during your online registration or later on via the "My registration" menu.
Workshop 1: Analytical Quality by Design and Risk Management Since the adoption of the ICH Q8 document concerning the development of pharmaceutical processes following a Quality by Design (QbD) approach, there have been many discussions on the opportunity for analytical method developments to follow a similar approach. Key components of the QbD paradigm are the definition of the Analytical Target Profile (ATP), the definition of the Design Space of analytical methods where assurance of quality is provided and the control strategy to implement for routine applications. Using case studies, this workshop aims at explaining how these concepts can be applied to help developing robust analytical methods, what is an analytical method Design Space and how to build such a Design Space as well as the link between QbD and analytical method validation. Workshop 2: SFC and SFC-MS The aim of this workshop is to provide the basics of SFC and SFC-MS. After a general introduction about the properties of supercritical fluid, the key parameters in SFC will be presented including the selection of organic modifier, additives, as well as stationary phase. Then, the main field of applications of SFC will be exposed and a focus will be made on the use of analytical SFC for pharmaceutical compounds (including acidic, neutral, basic, hydrophilic and lipophilic compounds). Next to this, the possibilities offered by modern SFC, which consist in using columns packed with sub-2µm particles and last generation of SFC instruments, will be demonstrated. Finally, the coupling of SFC and mass spectrometry (MS) will be discussed and the performance compared to that of UHPLC-MS. Workshop 3: Recent Developments in CE and CE-MS 14h-14h45 (A-C. Servais) - Principle and instrumentation of capillary electrophoresis 14h45-15h (coffee break) 15h-15h45 (M. Fillet) - Applications of capillary electrophoresis - Electrophoretic Separation Modes (CZE, MEKC, CGE, CIEF) 15h45-16h (coffee break) 16h-16h45 (G.W. Somsen) - Capillary electrophoresis coupled with MS - Introduction to CE-MS (basic set-up and interface designs) 16h45-17h - Discussion
