Graduated as Phd at the University of Antwerp with a doctoral thesis on Methodology development for organic surface analysis: evaluation of mass spectrometric behaviour and imaging capabilities in TOF-SIMS. Started working at Agfa as a project manager in inorganic and physicochemical analysis. Subsequently, became a project leader for printing plate development within Agfa and as such Responsible for the development of offset plates based on thermofuse technology. In 2015 the field of research changed to the development of UV ink jet inks for industrial applications, as he became project manager inkjet inks within the Materials Technology Centre of Agfa Gevaert. An important aspect within the current responsibilities is the development of low migration UV ink jet inks intended for being used on food an pharma packaging. Close window

He gained his Ph.D. degree in 1998 in Polymer Chemistry from University of Liege (Belgium). After he moved to IBM Almaden Research Center and Stanford University in California for a postdoctoral stay. Back in Spain he spent 10 years as leader of the Nanotechnology Activities at CIDETEC-IK4 Center for Electrochemical Technologies. In January 2011, he took an Ikerbasque Research Professor position at POLYMAT- University of the Basque Country. At the present time, he is leading the Innovative Polymers Group, a group specialized in polymer chemistry. He has (co)autored near 200 scientific articles. His work has received more than 9000 citations and his actual h-index is 52. His actual research interests are new polymer synthesis including (i) poly(ionic liquid)s, (ii) polymers for batteries and (iii) polymers for bioelectronics. Close window

Evelyne van Ruymbeke did her PhD in 2000-2005 at Université catholique de Louvain (Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium) with Profs. R. Keunings and C. Bailly, on the Relationship between molecular structure and linear viscoelasticity for mixtures of linear and star polymers. After that she joined the group of Prof. D. Vlassopoulos at IESL – FORTH (Crete, Greece) for 3 years, in order to study the flow properties of soft colloidal systems and create a general tube model to predict the rheology of architecturally complex macromolecules. In 2011, after a post-doc at Université catholique de Louvain (UCL) during which she continued to develop the model and extended it to nonlinear flow, she joined the company DSM (Geleen, The Netherlands) as research scientist.
Since 2012, she is a permanent Research Associate of the FNRS (Chercheur Qualifié) and Chargé de cours at UCL, in the division of Bio and Soft Matter. Shigeru Yamago received his B.S. and PhD in chemistry from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1986 and in 1991, respectively, as a synthetic organic chemist. He became an assistant professor at the same institute in 1991, moved to Kyoto University in 1995 as an assistant professor, Osaka City University in 2003 as a full professor, and the current position, Institute for Chemical Research, Kyoto University, in 2006 as a full professor. He was appointed as a deputy director in 2016. He research interests includes synthetic organic and polymer chemistry, radical chemistry and reactions, and element chemistry. Close window
