12th Belgian Organic Synthesis Symposium
BOSS XII
Namur, Belgium - July 11-16, 2010

The BOSS-conference is a unique international symposium as, apart from invited lectures delivered by established organic chemists as well as younger rising stars, two prestigious events are associated with it: a lecture delivered by the recipient of the “Janssen Pharmaceutica Prize for Creativity in Organic Synthesis”, and the “Tetrahedron Chair”: a one-day course on a specific topic in organic synthesis by an eminent lecturer. The conference covers a broad range of timely subjects in the field of organic chemistry.

Prof. Manfred T. Reetz (Max Planck, MULHEIM / Ruhr, Germany), has accepted to be chairman of BOSS XII scheduled to take place in Namur (Belgium), July 11-16, 2010, hosted by Prof. Stéphane Vincent (FUNDP Namur, Belgium).

One of the major aims of this series of events, also for this new edition, has always been to give young chemists the possibility to attend a high level conference at a reasonable cost, covering a broad range of timely subjects in the field of organic chemistry instead of only addressing a small group of highly specialized chemists.

The symposium programme will include:

  • A one-day course on a specific topic by the recipient of the Tetrahedron Chair: Prof. David MacMillan (Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey, USA) on Monday July 12, 2010
  • A lecture delivered by Prof. Eric M. Jacobsen (Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, USA), the recipient of the Janssen Pharmaceutica Prize for Creativity in Organic Synthesis,  on Thursday July 15
  • A series of 16 plenary lectures with ample time for discussion
  • Poster sessions
  • An exhibition of scientific instruments, books and chemicals
  • Social activities

The official symposium language is English.
